How incredibly appropriate it is that today, when Her Majesty The Queen is celebrating her 96th birthday, it is the most beautiful sunny day. I hope the sun is shining on all of you, but especially on the birthday girl.
I had a really lovely few days in Spain last week with Eliza, visiting suppliers as well as enjoying some spring sunshine (and all sorts of other weather!) We had a couple of days staying with friends, and then we moved to a beautiful hotel called Castillo de Santa Catalina – it was such a beautiful position with great views and only 10 minutes drive from Malaga centre, If you want a break in the sun I recommend it, and the Pan con Tomate was yummy!
The week running up to Easter is an amazing time to be in Spain with Holy Week processions taking place in every town and village. It is an incredible spectacle of passion and dedication - going on for hours it often starts mid afternoon and continues until 3 or 4 in the morning. Fortunately we weren’t staying right in the centre of Malaga otherwise we might not have got much sleep – as it was we were able to dip in and out and enjoy the incredible re-enactment of the Easter story. I felt really lucky to be there to witness it.
Weren’t we lucky with the weather over the easter weekend – it was so nice to be able to enjoy time outside, and we had some delicious BBQ’s and yummy salads with lashings of all things Fino. Fortunately the good weather has carried on here in Oxford which is lucky for me as Global HQ is being upgraded – my wonderful shed that I have had for the past 15 years is in the throws of being taken down as we speak, with a new replacement arriving next week. I am feeling a little sad saying goodbye to what has been a very faithful friend, but fingers crossed this sunshine continues so there will be no delays – at the moment Fino HQ has had to move in to the house!
