The summer might be coming to an end (did it actually ever happen?) but thanks to the wonders of nature there is masses to celebrate – there are so many blackberries in the hedgerows, and trees seem to be laden with fruit. I have already been given wonderful plums which I have stewed, I have had lovely apples and we even had two of the most delicious ripe figs off our little fig tree this week – OMG they were heaven! Figs always remind me of the very first night of our Spanish adventure when we sat looking out over the olive groves eating the most incredible Figs with Blue Cheese and Jamon for our very first supper. It was pretty heavenly.

Having picked lots of blackberries myself this week I couldn’t resist sharing pics of two really simple ways I have used them. I will most definitely be picking lots more to freeze ready for making blackberry and apple crumble (obviously eaten with masses of custard!) but I am going to reserve that joy for when it is really chilly. Last night I made a Blackberry & Grilled Chevre Salad and some Blackberry & Goats Cheese Crostini – both very simple, both very yummy and also rather pretty to look at.

We're going away at the end of next week and I am hoping you will bear with me if orders take a little longer to get to you. Until Monday 13th it is normal next day service, then over the following two weeks we will be sending out every few days as opposed to every day. All will go back to normal from Monday 27th September. I do hope you understand - if you have time it might be worth checking your cupboards now and getting any orders in before the end of next week – you can use code BLACKBERRY to get 10% off most things until Sunday 12th September.

Happy blackberrying
