Apologies being rather slow off the mark in wishing you all a very happy new year but for me I think starting the year off at a slightly slower pace is a good thing - I am really enjoying it, and hope you are too.

We had a really happy christmas, followed by a heavenly week in Cornwall seeing in the new year by the sea – we were so lucky to have all the family with us, and my mum too, and the weather was kind with no rain and no wind. New Year’s Eve was bright blue sky and sunshine! Lovely long walks, beach fun with the dogs, saunas and sea swims, jigsaws and games, and lots of good food – a great way to wave goodbye to 2025 and to kick off 2026.

Fast forward two weeks and I am writing this as it is pouring with rain, and venturing outside is not something I feel like doing! Snugging up at home is one my favourite bits of this time of year and I feel very lucky to be able to do it. An evening in front of the fire, cosying up and having a simple supper is utter heaven .. and maybe a bit of Traitors thrown in – we’re addicted!

Here are a couple of recipes which I love and which are just perfect for a "cosied up" evening – wholesome, warming, so easy to make and delicious.

CREAMY HARISSA CHICKPEAS WITH SPINACH AND LEMON ...

This recipe is by Dale Pinnock, @themedicinalchef – he is a true champion of the beneficial effects food can have on our health, and his recipes are all inspired by his passion for cooking “food to make you feel better” – do try this one – it is really yummy, and of course very good for you!

BURST CHERRY TOMATO BUTTER BEANS ...

Eliza introduced us to this recipe from @thegreedymodel some time ago, and she cooked it again for us on our first night in Cornwall – as a testament to how good it is my mum has apparently been doing it on repeat ever since! It could not be more simple and if you want something comforting and full of flavour it absolutely hits the spot every time – a hug in a bowl!

It's business as usual again in Global HQ restocking the shelves which had been looking fairly depleted.
