Another Thursday, and at 8pm this evening we will be on our doorsteps clapping for our amazing NHS and carers who are so deserving. Through this time the rainbow has become so iconic so I thought I would share a photo of this gorgeous painted matchbox which is one of the ones my lovely mummy has made and sent to each member of our family to let us know she is thinking of us even though we are not able to be together. She has always been amazingly creative, and whilst in lockdown on her own one of the things that has occupied a lot of her time is painting. I think we will need to have an exhibition when things get back to normal! You are so clever mum.
We are going through such extraordinary times and everyone's lives have changed - for some there are lots of positives, but there are so many whose needs are great, and for whom this time is so hard. With fundraising events being cancelled, and attention diverted elsewhere, charities who carry out such vital work for so many are being massively impacted. With this in mind a great initiative called Brilliant Little Brands (well done Emily) has recently been set up to offer customers a chance to shop with over 100 brilliant brands (of which Fino is one) at a "virtual fair", with 10% of the money spent going to charity. Do visit the Brilliant Little Brands website to see all the brands involved, and the charities which are being supported. These charities are being updated all the time so do keep an eye on it. The initiative has raised over £3000 for charity so far which is brilliant! If you are keen to buy from Fino and would like 10% of the money you spend to go to charity just enter BLB as the discount code when you checkout. It would be great if we can all do our bit to help.
On the theme of thanking amazing people weren't the VE Day celebrations on television last weekend amazing. A wonderful time of celebration at the end of such a prolonged period of sacrifice and such huge loss - proof that life does go on. It seems that baking has played a big part in people's lives during lockdown and it is certainly the case here. Here's just one example - the Victoria Sponge that I made for VE Day, and I have to say I was quite proud of myself!
Stay safe all of you and thank you for your continued support
