My early morning dog walks are such a great way to start to the day. At this time of year the colours everywhere are amazing – the golds, oranges, browns and deep reds are so beautiful. Conkers, apples, berries, misty mornings, especially when the sun is shining through the haze, the wet grass and the fallen leaves, and the delicate little cobwebs glistening in the sunlight – I love it all.
Did you see The Hunters Moon last night? (this is not my photo) It was so so bright. I always find the moon and the stars really comforting because I know they are shining wherever you are in the world. Even though Emily is 10,000 miles away she sees the same night skies as we do here at home, albeit 12 hours ahead of us. Soon it won’t be just Emily who is on the other side of the world – Rupert and Eliza are heading off to Sydney this evening for two weeks with her which is so exciting for them all – I can’t pretend I’m not a little bit envious but it will be so nice for Rupert to have time with his girls, and luckily I’ve got Ben here with me .. and the dogs!
We will definitely be lighting a fire this evening, and we turned the Aga on 10 days ago so we are back in to slow cooking and yummy casseroles – we’ve already had a fab beef shin stew, we have made ragu, lamb tagine, and plenty of delicious soup – leek and potato soup is on the menu for lunch today! Good hearty British fodder for Rupert before he heads to the airport and jets off to the sun.
It's amazing to think it’s already half term, and I have already done 10 great fairs which I have so enjoyed - there are still plenty of lovely ones to come (22 to be precise!), all of which are listed on the website, but if you aren’t likely to see me out and about then please do order online for me to send direct. This weekend you can use SYDNEY at the checkout for 10% off most things.
Have a happy weekend, and thank you in advance for keeping me busy.
