I like to think I generally lead a fairly healthy lifestyle but the beginning of a new year is always a good time for a boost! Most people over indulge at Christmas - for some reason this year we ended up with four Christmas puddings which Rupert and I love, but they do then need to be eaten, and then there's the brandy butter, and so it goes on.

So my idea of a kick start is a “Mainly Dry January" – having never considered doing "Dry January" before I do feel this is a step in the right direction. There will be inevitable blips – Emily’s 25th birthday, a great mate’s 50th, staying with mum, it’s Friday (any excuse) ... but so far pretty good.  Limited alcohol consumption is then coupled with healthy eating which I love and don't find difficult.  This was supper last night….oven baked cod with ginger and chilli, served with quinoa, kale, blueberry and orange salad – yum yum!

Oven Baked Cod with Kale, Blueberry and Quinoa Salad - serves 2

2 cod fillets, 1 chopped fresh chilli, 1tsp chopped ginger, 100g quinoa, small handful blueberries, 100g chopped kale, zest and juice of 1/2 orange, olive oil, salt, pepper

Place each cod fillet in a foil parcel and drizzle with a glug of olive oil - add chopped chilli and ginger, and season - seal each parcel and place on a baking tray.  Bake for 15 mins at 180C.  Meanwhile cook the quinoa as per the instructions on pack, and at the same time steam the chopped kale.  Once cooked combine the quinoa and kale, and dress with olive oil and the juice of the orange - then add the blueberries.  Dish up the salad, top with the cod and add some orange zest to finish before serving.

A new year and an updated website – it is still very simple to use so do check it out and get shopping – www.finooliveoil.co.uk/collections/all-products  - also don't forget to check out the delicious recipes if you are lacking inspiration - www.finooliveoil.co.uk/blogs/recipes -  and do take a look at where you might find Fino products when you are on your travels - www.finooliveoil.co.uk/pages/stockists – a select few stockists, but all are great enterprises and really worth while visiting if you are near by.  I am happy to stock any delis/farm shops that you recommend so please do send any suggestions my way and I will happily contact them.  Or restaurants!

Last but not least, for those of you who have not spied it yet, here is Fino Chilli Jam!  This has been a staple in the Taylor household for years and is well known to anyone who sets foot in our home as it has pride of place on the kitchen table at all times – it therefore seemed silly not to start producing it for everyone else to enjoy. If you like something pokey then do try it out – enter the discount code CJ20 for an introductory 20% discount until the end of January - www.finooliveoil.co.uk/collections/all-products/products/chilli-jam

Look forward to hearing from you
