We were in Italy a couple of weeks ago. We went to watch the England v Italy rugby match which clearly did not go according to plan, but it was absolutely fantastic to see the Italians who were completely beside themselves with excitement, and so deservedly. We had a brilliant couple of days in Rome, and then we went on to beautiful Bologna - both are such stunning cities so it was a real treat, and it was heavenly not having to wrap up to keep warm all the time. Through this rather miserable English winter I had almost forgotten what the warmth of the sun feels like.
Our few days was all so reminiscent of our time living in Spain - it is a different way of life - the buzz of a European city, exploring, being outdoors, and it is so wonderful how everything is so alive in the evenings. Eating supper outside at one of the many curbside restaurants was exactly how it used to be in Malaga for a large part of the year. Happy times.
And of course there were lots of olive trees too which was wonderful!
This week there has been such a welcome change in the weather here, and this weekend it looks like most of us are in for some lovely sunshine. The sun just makes everything feel so much better and life feels easier, and as for spring springing there's not a lot better that the joy of watching the leaves bursting on the trees and the beautiful blossom coming out. There are signs of new life everywhere!
Have you ever tried our delicious Chorizo Jam?
